I attempted to update my driver through the 'GeForce Experience' app and it made my screen go black for over 5 minutes. I eventually gave up and just rebooted my computer. Now, it just stays at that black screen and sometimes it is just stuck at the balls going in circles in a low-res screen. I tried doing win+p, and I can still log in but I cannot see anything. I would expect EVGA (or NVIDIA whoever made it) to release a driver that would actually be able to function with its hardware. My Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FTW HYBRID GAMING Graphics Card.

Computer Case: Make: Model: Motherboard: Make: Model: Bios Version: Is Bios Current Yes or No.
Hi,Thanks for replying.Yes your right, I should have posted more info. Its my daughters Notebook which she kindly vomited on! She also didnt take the battery out afterwards so I think that it was proper fried?I have had experience in replacing components and building desktops so tried drying and cleaning withy Isopropyl and contact cleaner.
1TB HDD tested OK but cant get any power through the board at all.Looked on Ebay and found board which is no longer available so thats the end of the Op system compatibility question. As it happens there is an identical board available but from PolandI guess that all I need to know is whether I can buy/upgrade a different board as a replacement? Its was running Windows 10 Standard, Intel Core i5-5257U (2.7GHz), 1600MHz/3MB L3, Dual 28W, 2x 4GB DDR3L.ThanksRich. Its a board from a FreeDos system so has no Windows Key Code embedded in the BIOS as the Windows 8 units have. It will still support UEFI/secure boot if installed. This board would be a drop in replacement for yours it just will not automatically activate Windows for you. You would need to buy a license which you could use to reactivate the old hard drive on the machine.HP sells a lot of laptops without Windows licenses in Eastern Europe and Asia. They come with FreeDos.
A lot more users in those parts of the world install Linux or somehow use a copy of Windows from an institution or one that fell off the back of the truck. W10 is the only word needed here.there are only 2 ways to solve this.buy the board from HP sales, will be expensive and is NEWebay, used and may be bad. Make sure seller promises NO DOA, say for 3 days? After delivery.or pass. Many parts sold there are bad, after all they are sold out of a garage in many cases, or worse.2 choices.
(or beg on craigs list most there have no idea what MOBO is or does)the book i linked about tells you the w10 version is just one P/N. Clear as daywhat is not clear is what makes it w10 (there is the W10 HELLO login toy too that must be compatible)if you dont use those advances w10 features, then it should be a moot point.I dont work for HP but I think it means it supports the FULL TPM chip and GPT and UEFI spec. For all those bells and whistles seen in w10, w8 was the half backed introduction of this.(progress or regress? Not sure there)now take the issues of the w8 mobo.what would happen if the person last year upgraded w8 to to 10 for free last year, as many did.what would be broken?

(if you dont use the new magic TPM chip (features) or GPT then what can go wrong.?or the 3d camera for HELLO BIOMETRIC, logins. (w10 has lots of new wild ideas and hardware needs)what if one did the BIOS upgrade?will the MOBO now be a w10, suffix p/n board or are there TMP chips missingIm not sure.?My guess, may cost you $100 to find out.
Using wrong mobo.choice 3 is go to used PC store and find another. (it is a choice). Not sure what all this means. Windows 7, 8/8.1 and 10 authenticate in different ways. Maybe do a little online research.7 uses a Key Code like Windows 98 did, 8 and 8.1 use a token embedded in the BIOS chip and 10 authenticates at the Microsoft activation servers. They have a record of every computer that ever had activated Windows 10. How they do it is a secret but it is not just the motherboard.
If you took the motherboard out of a computer that had Windows 10 activated and put it in another machine Windows 10 may or may not activate on it depending on what other hardware you moved over, particularly the wireless card. So, simple answer. This person can use the -001 motherboard. It is identical to the motherboard they have except for the Windows authentication Code in the BIOS. All the rest of the verbiage is kind of overwhelming. The odds of finding this motherboard at a local shop is about zero so that advice is not really sound. Yes the book i linked at my first post is USA onlythe OP never stated a country so. I default to HP USA LT.the usa pn is w8 w8.1 and w10, and no freedos in said book.if you call MS with a new mobo.

Using your old OEM license. (what was it? New w10?)they will let you move, the license to the new mOBO ( they use 8 rules with different importance (a secret).the rules are, that the OEM licence can not be moved, to the mobo. (OEM rules not retail ever)but in truth if you make the free call and beg, (just ask) they go, OK for you, NO PROBLEM. Have a nice day. Bla bla.see?they do that, at MS, they are not so strick on live calls as they are with the digital activatein fact.
They did the free upgrade from w8 to w10 to and from OEM to retail for free last year, on many I did.i did vast w7 to 10s. On may hp laptop. All were OEM. COA'swhat choice do you have, well one.make the seller sell you the case botton and the mobo as one.the new case has the matching OEM COA tag.see. There is a way. Or pay $120 for retail license.did you buy this with w10 or upgrade to it.
You never said and the history matters, here. The poland deal is on ebay, he is not there i bet. The ebay pages USA show his board in poland, yesterday.until i flip on US only. The sicker is on the case no on mobos.
(here) COA is on the CASE in plain view.that is correctand the 8 rules (serial numbers codes) are published by MS sliding past the LICENSE NANNY.for sure good luck buying anything used, i buy many and 1 it 10 are bad. Some sad why, tiny connector bad, super hard top fix.
